Lee's Sensation Club

Lee's Sensation Club, also known as Lee's Club Sensations, was not situated in Paradise Valley but in the North End at 1300 Owen. It operated as a Black and Tan establishment, opening its doors in 1944 under the ownership of black businessman Uzziel Lee. Lee migrated to Detroit from Alabama in 1923, initially working in a factory like many other migrants. He then ventured into entrepreneurship, starting with a shoeshine parlor, followed by a confectionery with a tavern at the rear, before eventually establishing the nightclub. His club gained recognition for hosting talent shows.
